Happy Pixel Day! @TomFulp and I will be at some point judging entries, and I may stream the animations and games live as I play them, and the music, depending on my schedule within the week. Also, I have a big announcement to make about the Newgrounds: Zero Hour game me and my team have been working on....
Newgrounds: Zero Hour BIG Update
The game will be episodic! Meaning, every update will add a new stage to the game as they're finished! We're always accepting new pixel artists, so if you want to apply to do work for the game (as little or as much as you want), send me a message with examples of your work! :)
This also means the game will be coming out sooner, starting with a new intro cutscene to better explain the story, and Stage 1, a remake of the first stage from the demo from the assets I was able to save (the background will be different because sadly that one didn't make it in the assets uploads for some reason). We're taking our time with it as we want to make sure each episode is polished, challenging, and worth the wait.
We have a lot of the same assets so I was able to save a good chunk of the content we had outside of the demo. The new stage 1 will still be looking quite a bit different though, since I didn't have the old background, unfortunately. I like the style this is going for though, the artists are doing a great job! I'm sure you'll see Stage 1 by Spring, hopefully. After that, we're going to figure out how to update the game while not affecting save files, or do stage selection. We'll figure it out when we cross that bridge.
I can't wait to see your submissions for Pixel Day! I'm really happy it's still going after all these years after I suggested the idea to Tom. It's also an honor that one of my favorite pixel artists Maruki made the promo animation/art for it and is getting quite the exposure on twitter! I hope more people know about Pixel Day and see the great community that's newgrounds. :) Love you guys! <3
