Carbon Monoxide Poisoning/Help

Posted by ThatJohnnyGuy - February 23rd, 2021

I know I just posted a newspost, about the new Off the Wall episode and needing pixel artists for my game NG Zero Hour (which I"ll mention again below), but this is an emergency. Mild carbon monoxide poisoning, new furnace, asking for donations type of deal.

So, the past couple or so months i've been developing health issues, and a friend pointed out it may be carbon monoxide poisoning from a furnace leak. Sure enough, he was right. But, it's going to cost $3000. My dad is helping, but I've only been in this home for a year, and this is devastating for us financially. If anyone wants to help contribute to that.

Dad gave me an oil radiator heater to keep the house warm in the meantime so I don't have to run the furnace, I've been airing out the house and running air purifiers, that helps, but if anyone wants to help donate to help us, I'll link my ko-fi and paypal below, and thank you.

Need Pixel Artists & Animators for Newgrounds: Zero Hour Game!

If you don't know what this game is, definitely go check out the demo from first for context: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/664782

If you are a pixel artist/animator, whether it be sprites or backgrounds, and you're interested in helping out with the project, message me! We're getting close to the completion of the first stage of the game. The game will be episodic, and updated with new stages every now and then (the same project file).

If you're interested in helping us, shoot me a message here, and you'll want to create an account on Trello.com, and we have a Discord server where we're working on it.

I'm hanging in there guys, just kinda bummed. In the meantime I've been seeing a career counselor to try and figure out how to rake in the dough doing something I enjoy to carry my life forward while still doing my creative stuff. After the health issues are figured out, I'll be back to working on the music I was working on.

I shared this post to my twitter account @yt_archive to hopefully spread the word. I wish the best for you, mang :]

Thank you

Damn, that's seriously dangerous. I personally worked with some similar lethal cases. I hope you are safe now. I'll help with what I can by the end of the week, at least I hope so.

Oh wow really? I have a low level case luckily, tomorrow im having someone inspect it and getting it replaced this week. I have the furnace shut off and i'm airing out the house and using air purifiers so thats helped a lot, i have an oil radiator heater to stay warm. I've been exposed to this for a couple of months, the past month especially was noticiable with the symptoms. I feel mostly okay but still have a slight headache and head pressure. Hoping i don't need oxygen treatment to get rid of it.

Yeah, I inspected a case where woman and her cat were found dead in their own flat just this January. She moved in that flat less than a year before and her sister said she complained about frequent headaches and nausea, and also that her cat had frequent vomit. She didn't ask for medical help though. And one day the gas concentration raised too high and they both died. We even had cases of whole families deaths due to ventilation canals being frozen during severe winters. That's the reason proper installation and regular maintenance of vent canals, furnaces and similar stuff are strictly necessary. Carbon monoxide (CO) is known as "silent killer", it has no odor and can't be noticed without special analyzers. Frequent headaches in combination with nausea and vomiting are usual symptoms. Children and animals, especially small ones, are more sensitive and vulnerable because of small weight. Take care everyone, stay safe.

Oh my god....that's horrible :( i'm so sorry. I've been here for a year. My furnace is just old but i've only started having symptoms the past couple of months mainly. That sounds awful. I haven't run my furnace for the past day so hopefully that'll help things. I'm lucky i don't have the nausea and vomiting. Oddly my cat seems fine...I don't know. Thank you for the info.
